Campgrounds in Asheville, NC

7 campgrounds

Asheville is part of our guide to camping destinations in Western North Carolina. Asheville is the easiest base in the mountains for campers who want trailheads and a real dinner in the same day. Campgrounds here range from full-hookup RV parks a few minutes from downtown and the River Arts District to Lake Powhatan in the Bent Creek Experimental Forest, where hiking and biking trails start at the campground.

Most sites near the city are privately run and open longer seasons than the high-elevation public campgrounds, which makes Asheville a good choice for spring and late-fall trips. The Blue Ridge Parkway, the North Carolina Arboretum and the Pisgah District waterfalls are all a short drive away.
