RV parks Asheville NC: how the options group

Our directory currently lists seven campgrounds with an Asheville address, and four of them carry the RV Camping type: Taps RV Park, Wilson’s Riverfront RV Park, Asheville Bear Creek RV Park and Lake Powhatan Campground. Beyond the city line, the directory adds RV listings in Candler, Swannanoa and Fletcher. In practice, RV camping Asheville NC visitors book falls into three groups:

  • Commercial RV parks inside Asheville, with full-hookup sites.
  • A national forest campground in the Pisgah National Forest, administered by the Forest Service.
  • Larger resort-style campgrounds on the edges of the metro area, such as the KOA properties and Rutledge Lake.

The options below include commercial RV parks, Lake Powhatan in Pisgah National Forest, Mount Pisgah on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and properties in nearby towns. Compare the setting and facilities first, then confirm that the site you book fits your vehicle.

Asheville Bear Creek RV Park

It states that the park is open year-round, that guests can reach I-40, I-240 and I-26, and that pets are welcome with designated dog walk areas. The site also lists a seasonal outdoor pool, three bathhouses, laundry and a clubhouse. The website states the park is open year-round and takes reservations through Campspot. The park’s Campspot page lists 27 RV sites with 50/30 amp full-hookup options, back-in parking, fire rings and picnic tables, and marks pets as allowed. Because the two pages were written at different times, confirm current facilities with the park. Listing: Wilson’s Riverfront RV Park listing.

Taps RV Park is listed in our directory under RV Camping. Its website, ashevilletapsrvpark.com, was not loading its detail pages when this guide was prepared, so site counts and hookup details are not given here. Use the park’s website or the directory listing for current information.
