Silent Hike is a ranger-led evening walk at Chimney Rock State Park on Sunday, October 25, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. It follows 1.5 miles of the Rumbling Bald Loop near Lake Lure.

What to expect

  • At certain spots the group stops, turns off its lights and listens to the sounds of the woods.
  • The ranger talks about crepuscular wildlife, the animals active around dawn and dusk, and the group hopes to spot some.
  • Bring water, comfortable shoes and a headlamp or flashlight.

  • Location: Chimney Rock State Park, Rumbling Bald Access, 827 Boys Camp Road, Lake Lure.
