RV Camping in Western North Carolina

Full-hookup RV parks, pull-through sites and mountain-road tips for RV trips across the WNC mountains.

Updated September 29, 2026

Western North Carolina works well for RV trips if you plan around the roads. The full-service parks — with full hookups, pull-through sites, laundry and often a pool — cluster around Asheville, Franklin and Bryson City, close to the interstates and main highways.

Tips for mountain RV travel

  • Check each campground’s access road and maximum RV length before booking; Forest Service and Parkway sites are tighter than private parks.
  • Expect steep grades on mountain routes and plan fuel and dump-station stops ahead.
  • Book summer and October weekends early — the popular parks fill.

Use the filters in the directory to narrow by full hookups, pull-through sites and town.
