Haunted History Hike is a ranger-led walk at Gorges State Park near Sapphire on Friday, October 30, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. It covers the area’s history, local legends and ghost stories.

What to expect

  • A moderate hike of about 60 minutes.
  • Questions such as what happened when the Toxaway Dam broke and what lies beneath Lake Jocassee.
  • Stories about the people who lived on the land before it became a state park.
  • Costumes are encouraged, and candy will be available.

  • Meet at the Rainbow Falls trailhead; the park’s Grassy Ridge Access is at 976 Grassy Ridge Rd., Sapphire.
